Mosaicists around the world are increasingly using our medium to tackle the big issues of our time. I have been speaking out about climate change for several years and don’t plan on stopping any time soon. Accompanied by images from my Fiddling While Rome Burns series, I will take you inside my process and this ever-growing body of work, and will share my personal philosophy about activist mosaic. Learn about where I find my inspiration, how I navigate the choices involved in creating art that communicates a message, and how and why I complement my art with writing. I’ll also reflect on the lessons I have learned along the way and the strategies I am using as I look to the future and navigate this long-term undertaking. By delving into the what, how, and why of my own brand of activist mosaic, this talk will be a call to arms (or hammers!) to use mosaic as a powerful tool for social change. Audience members will have a chance to ask questions at the end.
